Indian Railway plans for multi-purpose e-card

Indian Railway is now ready to introduce a multi-purpose e-card for easy traveling in not only in trains but also in buses, steamers or the metro and taxis too. It will detach you from the long ticket-ques and from holding monthly passes.

The Railway Board has been started examining the pilot project in Mumbai Central. The cards will be re-chargable.

Two years back, the pilot project had been launched in Mumbai and with the cooperation of BEST, the pilot project was successful.

To continue the project, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been given the charge of making feasibility report with the help of State Bank of India (SBI). The financial feasibility of the project is also taking into consideration.

According to the Railway officials, the future of this project will go with the cooperation and coordination with many such as railways, roadways, taxi services, and even the hotel and tourism industry too.
