Indian leaders condemn terror act

The President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam sharply condemned the blasts in Mumbai and grenade attack on tourists in Srinagar on Tuesday.

He said,

such kind of inhuman acts are uttered condemnable. The responsible men for the attack should be behind the bars at the earliest. He pleaded citizens to maintain calm and help other affected people.

The President is hopeful that the state governments will care the affected people with all possible relief.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi termed the bombing as shameful and brutal act. She asked the Government to apprehend the culprits behind the attacks immediately. She spoke to the authorities to tighten security measures and ensure maintenance of peace and harmony.

The Railway Minister of India, Lalu Prasad described the blasts in Mumbai as tragic and dastardly. He promised that his ministry would launch all possible relief operations to mitigate the sufferings of the victims.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad denounced the string of bomb attacks in Mumbai and Srinagar. He said that former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, BJP chief Rajnath Singh and senior party leader L K Advani have appealed for calm.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Jyoti Basu attributed the Mumbai and Srinagar serial blasts to failure of law and order and intelligence. He said, there is no law and order there. It was also a case of absolute intelligence failure.
