China has, reportedly, test fired the anti-satellite technology to counter any satellite in the space. US and Russia have the technology since long. Now, the Indian think tank is planning to get the technology with itself.

India has some fears that its satellites could be under threat from missiles with the anti-satellite technology. To prevent Indian satellite from any future attack, India is working on development of a shield for satellites. To make it possible, India is in talks with Russia and some other countries having such technology.

According to a senior official,

India has full spectrum of threat to the satellites. So it is in our interest to use technology to protect our satellites. We are taking necessary steps to get the technology.

He was saying about the apprehension that any enemy country with the use of missiles could target Indian satellites.

The recent test of this technology conducted by China, however it is unofficial yet, India is hopefully taking it seriously. However, the official said that India’s desire to develop the shield was not prompted by the test conducted by China.

According to a report in the Hindu, the official said that

we have been discussing about developing the shield before Chinese test.

So there is no link between the two.

He said further that India has been talking to close friend Russia and some other countries having such technology just for our interest.

However, the technology is available only with the US, Russia and China only.
