Dead bodies used as bait to catch fish in lake victoria

vic 3HPvf 16419Ugandan fishermen have admitted to using dead bodies to catch plenty of fish from Lake victoria. The fisherman profit from a dead bodies floating on the lake’s waters two-fold; as bait to catch plenty of fish feeding on the decomposing human flesh and as ransom from relatives of the deceased when they claim to look for the body under water for days.

As one of their very own admits, “I recall some time in 2006, there was a body around my fishing area. We had not tied it anywhere but there was a lot of fish around it,” says Mulindwa, a fisherman interviewed by the press. He adds that, “When there is a dead body in the lake, fish come in droves. So when a fisherman says he can’t fish around that spot, he is lying,”

Since it is increasingly becoming difficult to catch plenty of fish out of the Victoria, this would be the right time to make use of whatever available opportunity to make lots of money.

Hopefully, the police will tame this bad practice from escalating into outright murder cases just for the purpose of catching fish.
