Whether it’s about those who walked the wrong route or those who lost their fortunes due to substances, the underbelly somehow cannot escape from showing its ugly face.

Below is a close look at the pitfalls of the industry that not only doomed great personalities, but also revealed what exactly triggered such tragedies. These infamous celebrities not only unfortunately lost their shining bright career to drugs, but also made the fraternity grieve over their Stygian journeys.

Guru Dutt

Profession: Director, Actor, Producer

Despite often credited with ushering in the golden era of Indian Cinema, Guru Dutt (Vasant Kumar Shivashankar Padukone) had a very depressing, dominant rayless side to his life.

Unfortunately, the star drooped to a cloudless world owing to his unsuccessful marriage with singer Geeta Dutt. The failed relationship not only affected him mentally and physically, but also brought his health devastatingly down which people believed led Dutt to his consistent drug usage. Some even believe that his affair with the renowned actress Waheeda Rehman caused further damage to the star’s career. Nevertheless, it has always remained hazy whether Guru Dutt’s sad demise was a suicide or was caused due to an accidental drug overdose.

Parvin Babbi

Revered for her vivacious appeal, Parvin Babbi witnessed an unlighted, shadowy side as well. In spite of being an incredibly successful actress and model of her time, the actress fell in the unfortunate snare of sedative consumption.

The glamorous actress soon witnessed her ill-fated downfall for her frequent episodes of drugs usage. She was diabetic for most of her life due to the side-effects of anti-psychotic medications. Besides her active participation in drugs like LSD, Parvin Babbi also had multiple, unsuccessful love relationships. Bit to dismay, the actress was found dead in her Mumbai apartment on January 20, 2005.

Geetanjali Nagpal

Although the glitzy journey of stunning apparels and walking the ramp is pretty frequent when it comes to modeling, but the voyage of Geetanjali Nagpal indeed throws many, off-balance.

Despite accomplishing some really astounding successful events as one of the top models of her times, the model regrettably has been believed to be a victim of alcohol addiction and drug abuse. It may catch unawares but some even found the famous model spending her nights in temples and parks, wandering across the streets and working as a maid. According to certain doctors who diagnosed her later, Geetanjali Nagpal was a patient of fear psychosis.

Renu Rathi

Another successful model who had a disheartening journey and depicts some harsh reality of glamour world is Renu Rathi. The thriving model who shared many years of her life on the ramp, eventually witnessed a huge disaster after having failed for several big banners in the industry.

Pretty much like Geetanjali Nagpal, Renu Rathi was also found lying absolutely abandoned on the streets. If reports are to be believed, the model was apparently been thrown out of her apartment in Bandra by her landlord for her serious drug addiction.

Sanjay Dutt

The highly prominent face of Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt started his rich expedition of glamour and desirability in 1981. Son of Indian Cinema veterans Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, Sanjay however had an ugly side too with his incessant drug problems in the initial stages of his career.

Although, the actor underwent treatment at drug rehab center in Texas, his voyage is something that still makes the prominent actors, quite swayed away by emotions. He was also in news for being arrested with 337g of cocaine in 1982 and for being sentenced to 17 months of imprisonment, which severely affected his career.

Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala not only rose to glamour in a very competitive era, but also saw a sooty time later.

Lamentably, the actress had her miserable collapse for multiple reasons with her poor lifestyle being the most significant one. Manisha would often share limelight for her drinking and smoking habits and also for her drug addiction, which shook her career massively. In fact, the downfall was also credited to her personal life which was usually judged and scrutinized closely.

Shivani Kapoor

Viveka Babajee

Lastly, but probably somewhere even more disappointing and controversial, Viveka Babajee’s voyage also shows some extremely disheartening bits.

The pretty face was lost in the dark glamour after achieving success with her earlier company APEX ENT in the year 2009. The Mauritian-born Indian model unfortunately suffered from depression and sadly committed suicide in her Bandra apartment. The celeb not only had a disheartening empty life, but also saw it getting worse due to her excessive smoking and drugs usage.Viveka was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her place, whereby her personal diary revealed her heartbreaking, failed relationship with her boyfriend, Gautam Vohra.
