Who is to blame for student suicides?

exam

March is a cruel month for many. Going into this otherwise pleasant month, we can clearly see lines of worry on foreheads of whole student community – the exams have begun.

It is common to come across news headlines about student suicides in the months around March. This is one of the most nauseating feature of the current education system.

The reason of all these increasing cases is obvious and clear- ‘pressure’, which can be from peer groups or from parents.

Pressure is not delightful for anyone and infact very less number of people have the capability to bear it.

Without any moral support at least, people can easily surrender before this horrendous fiend- ‘pressure’. We can easily take in to account recent suicide cases of the student. A second year BA student committed suicide in New Delhi and Heena, who well thought-out on her own herself as an average student and hanged herself to death before her exam.

I agree it’s a competitive age. Every one has to compete for his existence be it in a school, college, university or job but suicide is not an solution and this situation can be tackled by just spending time with your kids, classmates. All they need is your little time and encouragement.

Therefore, if you come to know a student in your close vicinity who is giving or preparing for exams, make hisher day, ease his stress by just spending sometime with her or him.

Enable them visualize a bigger and better picture. Exams are not the only measure of success in life. There are still many other plases where they can prove themselves.
