Tunisia v. Nigeria

This is it. The World Cup qualifying match between Tunisia and African-heavy weight Nigeria.

Tunisia has a good record. It has attended the World Cup for three tournaments in a row now [1998, 2002, 2006] and one time prior to that. The team attendance is one of great envy in Africa, particularly among fellow Arabs in North Africa. But Tunisia is not seen as Africa’s best team. It has never gotten past round 1.

There are much strong sub-Saharan teams. One of those is Nigeria. Nigeria was planned to attend the 2006 German games but was knocked out by…Tunisia. They want revenge now. Nigeria has a stronger team, but Tunisia may just pull this one out.

Where the game on Nigerian turf, it would be a done deal for the Nigerians. But, instead, it is being played on the soil of Carthage in the Rades Stadium.

Here fate will be decided.

The World Cup match is not a done deal either way for both teams. But in a group of four, it is going to be either Tunisia or Nigeria [most likely]. This game will decide who will that team be, the rest is just finalizing the decision.

It is going to be tense. Tunisians are avid football fans and will come out in force. If they are let down, it is not going to be a pretty picture. If they win, … it is not going to be a pretty picture.
