Instablogs Tour
FAQ
1. What is Instablogs

Instablogs is a news ecosystem bringing bloggers, citizen journalists and traditional media together. It’s a place to discover, share, contribute and connect with the world and the people who are changing it.

2. Who creates news on Instablogs?

Citizen Journalists: Contributors like you can publish original articles or share interesting news-links from external sources. We have a diverse community of news reporters, business owners, college students, housewives, artists, parents, and more in different countries and regions.

Traditional Media: We syndicate best posts from the wire services in an automated fashion. This makes us one of the fastest places to find news-wire on the web.

Bloggers: We also handpick blogs in our network. The section is called Instablogs Club. Most of our selected blogs are news based blogs regularly updated with excellent content making them market leaders in their niche.

Small portion of the news content from these blogs is also syndicated automatically in respective channels, with direct links to their blogs.

3. Who decides what is coming on Homepage?

You decide. The community is responsible for the story selection on homepage or any other section.

Every new submission, whether it’s a complete article or a news link to external content, first makes to the “Upcoming”, where members like you can vote on the story. If the story receives enough votes, it moves from Upcoming to popular section.

4. Newslink or Publish Story.
Difference between the two?

A complete original article written by you is submitted as a story.

If however you want to highlight or share some interesting content found on external site with other members, you just need to submit it as a news-link.

5. Besides submitting content, what else I can do?

On Instablogs you can

  • (a) Vote for stories and make them popular. Decide what’s important.
  • (b) Comment on articles. Add your take to the news.
  • (c) Connect with like minded people. Make new friends everyday.
  • (d) Track activities of other users. Stay connected.
  • (e) Send quick messages. Interact with other members.
  • (f) Publish and manage your own content. Make yourself heard.
6. What is the easiest way to find news on my favorite topic on Instablogs?

We are glad you ask that.

1. Search stories/images by keywords from search bar on top of the page.

2. Find news from your region and communities. http://www.instablogs.com/united-states/

3. Find news from your favorite topic or channels Technology, Business, Entertainment.

4. Or just find anything by typing that keyword after Instablogs URL. http://www.instablogs.com/your-key-word

7.Why I'm not able to find my story in the 'Upcoming'?

Latest stories remain in the Upcoming for some fixed time depending on the time of submission and the influx of more fresh stories. Once a story receives enough votes, it moves to the respective channel and the homepage depending on the popularity, giving space to other fresh stories that readers can vote on.

All Channel pages too have “Most Recent”, “Most Popular” and “Most Commented” sections where readers can find the stories.

8.Why there are "Trash" and "Report Abuse" options along with the stories and comments?

We’ve given “Trash” and “Report Abuse” options in the stories, newslinks and comments so that members can filter out profane, abusing, duplicate, plagiarized stories, stories with bad links, off-topic content, inaccurate, and false information.

This is the way Community can easily keep the spam completely out of the system and allow compelling opinions rise to the top. Stories cannot be trashed by a single vote. Stories get trashed only if they get enough number of negative votes. However, in any case, the story remains on the Myblog of the user. It never gets deleted.

The Report Abuse and Trash only work when a large number of active members participate in it. We encourage everybody to actively participate and help improve the content on the site.

9.How can I contribute to Global Report, the daily Instablogs video show?

If you've a compelling story to tell, come join our team of Citizen Journalists from entirely different regions, cultures, nationality, dialects to produce this show.

You can send your report, including images, videos and voice overs, at cj@instablogs.com. We would love to incorporate it into the show.

10.Can I submit non-English content on Instablogs?

Instablogs is currently only an English-language content site. Please do not submit content in languages other than English. However, as we're expanding, we would love to include other languages too in the near future. If you would like to see Instablogs in your language, please email us through our contact page.
