Here is another example of sycophancy in Indian politics. The local leaders frequently go for this option to get favor from big political leaders. We can see so many examples of the sycophancy tried by local leaders in India and it happens again and again, this time it happened in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

I have been tired writing on the ‘culture’ of sycophancy in Indian politics. This is the seventh article in the series of ‘Sycophancy Unlimited’ written by me on India Daily. You can find it here [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6].

The stories say that Congress party has become the greatest victim of the New-age political culture. Congress president Sonia Gandhi was ‘Durga’ last week in Moradabad and this week she is ‘Rani Laxmibai’ in Jabalpur.

For sycophants imagination runs wild when it comes to Sonia Gandhi. Former MLA from Jabalpur, Kailash Sonkar, who made the poster, said that Soniaji has fought back like the Rani of Jhansi with all odds in her life.

The worst part of the story for Sonkar is that his generous shower of praise on Congress chief did not work at all. In reaction from party leadership, Sonkar has been suspended from the party.

The TOI has reported that the single difference in the last two sycophancy incident within congress party units in state is that while the Moradabad Congress chief Ajay Soni was suspended just a day after the posters came in media, former Congress MLA Kailash Sonkar had the poster adorning the walls of his office for more than three years.

Sonkar is a lawyer by profession with the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He and a local councillor with some party leaders had printed these posters when the UPA government had come to power in 2004.

I have said it earlier and saying it again that a strong signal against these kinds of practices should go directly to the local offices of political parties that is necessary to restrict performing sycophancy by local leaders in this way.
