Sunita Williams goes to space with Discovery

Discovery, the US space shuttle blasted off in space on a important International Space Station construction mission from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

It was first night launch of space shuttle in last four years.

Indian-origin astronaut, Sunita Williams, is among the seven-member crew in the space shuttle. The shuttle blasted off in sky and took nine minutes to reach in the orbit. The shuttle went in space with an 11-million-dollar truss segment to add to the ISS.

Earlier the launching had been delayed because of dense cloud in the sky. Last night, two rocket boosters separated in accordance with the plans from the orbiter in two minutes after blast.

The Discover shuttle flight is the fourth one since Columbia mishap over Texas in February 2003 in which, seven astronauts including Indian-origin astronaut Kalpana Chawla were killed.
