Governments in Bihar have been infamous for not taking any strong action against criminals-turned-MLAs of the ruling party, even if they have number of public complaints registered against them. Lalu’s 15-year rule was predominantly infamous for that and now it has become the USP of Nitish government also it seems.

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar claims that the law and order is almost under control but the claims proved as just mockery when a ruling party MLA assaulted a journalist in the state capital and the cameraman ran half a kilometer to save his life.

This is Bihar that can never change it seems. On Thursday JDU MLA from Mokama, Anant Singh, assaulted NDTV reporter Prakash Singh horribly when he tried to approach him in the connection of a murder case. The incident happened on Thursday morning.

According to the report, some people found a dead body of a woman in the Patel Nagar area of Patna. Later, Prakash Singh received a call from the slain woman’s brother and he accused JDU MLA Anant Singh and others for killing his sister. Prakash went to Anant Singh’s residence to get his view on the whole episode.

The MLA, has two-dozen cases of heinous crimes registered against him, even invited Prakash and offered him a cup of tea. But, when he saw the report being aired on the news channel, he went wild and started beating the reporter mercilessly. Anant’s bodyguards and a builder also assaulted Prakash badly. They even snatched his car keys and smashed the camera. The camera person had to run from the site to save himself from Anant’s goons.

It seems the Nitish Kumar government has become helpless and unable to control the criminal elements in the state. When the question comes to the ruling party MLA, the matter becomes non-debatable for the ruling government.

Earlier, Nitish Kumar had ordered for arresting another JDU MLA Sunil Pandey in a case. CM had ordered expulsion of MLA Sunil Pandey from the party for his misbehavior with a TV news crew in a drunken condition at a posh Patna hotel. However, Anant Singh is said to be a strongman in Bihar politics and it will be tough for Nitish Kumar to take any strong action against him.

According to the latest report, Patna Police have arrested JD(U) MLA Anant Singh in the connection with attacking NDTV reporter Prakash Singh and other media persons.

This is not the first case when Nitish Kumar has taken action against Anant Singh. Earlier, he had ordered the registration of an FIR against him during his weekly janata durbar. The police had immediately registered an FIR against the MLA whose gun-toting men had been trying to forcibly occupy prime property in the heart of Patna by frightening the occupants with eviction.
