As we all know that through marriage two people are united and start a new life and make a family. The people in different countries celebrate it with different type of traditions, but in some countries like Afghanistan it is very hard to celebrate your marriage because of some of the worst traditions which we have.
Expensive parties in hotels in Afghanistan have become the rage since the collapse of the Taliban regime; large, expensive wedding hotels are growing increasingly popular. In Kabul the capital of Afghanistan there are about 34 wedding hotels, the owner of one of the hotels said that in the last two years the number of people who prefer to have their marriages in hotels has increased every day.
It costs about 6-20$ per head to pay in hotel for a lunch or dinner + 1000$ for musical group to entertain the guests and paying about 2000-3000$ for the camera man and designing the stage for bride and groom and the groom should also invite about 800/1000 of his relatives and friends. The groom has to buy jewelry for bride and make some expensive cloths which cost 6000-8000$. And also must pay about 4000-5000$ for brides family because they demand that.
so we can simply say that it may cost you about 30000-40000$ to celebrate a simple marriage here in Afghanistan and it has become a type of worst tradition.
Even we have seen that most of the ministers, politicians and the Jihadi leaders in Afghanistan pay only 60000-90000$ only to hotel for providing food to the guests in their sons marriage parties which is the very high amount and next to them we see the people who beg on the roads and don’t have anything to eat.
As we watch through media most of the people complain to the government to stop such traditions because here in this unemployment situation of Afghanistan it is impossible for a boy to afford over-expenditure of marriage and it is the main reason that the people are engaged for about 3-4 years to go out of the country for work or perform some crimes and earn some amount of money to pay the high cost of marriages.
One of the main reasons that the rape cases are increasing in Afghanistan is the over-expenditure in marriage parties because the boys can not afford to get marriage, so they will turn to rape.
In this situation in Afghanistan that we have, instead of building wedding hotels the rich people should have their investment on some industries to provide the job facilities for people and stop poverty and we also request the people not to spend too much amount of money on their marriage parties in hotels, instead they should help with poor people.
And we also request the government to control such high expenses which is not allowed in Islam and also socially if we think it makes the poor people disappointed because they can not do so. It is also the responsibility of us, media and the Islamic clergies to preach this to all to stop spending too much money in marriages in order to provide a situation that both rich and poor people can afford to get married and start the new life.
