Much talked about IPL controversies

Indian Premier League (IPL) has turned ‘six’ this year, and the season has started with much higher entertainment quotient. Here are a few much-talked IPL controversies we have seen until now. Let us have a look:

Famous Slapgate between Sreesanth and Harbhajan

It started from the very first season when the Mumbai Indians was playing with the Kings XI Punjab at Mohali, on April 25, in the year 2008. The match was a tie and members of the both teams were about to leave the ground while the cameras started flashing out. Audience and media found it more interesting and amusing than that of the entire match as the Mumbai Indians bowler Harbhajan Singh slapped the Kings XI Punjab bowler S Sreesanth. Everything took place so suddenly that Sreesanth began to cry just like a baby right after it.

Heated Argument between Praveen Kumar and Ashwin

It was a match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kings XI Punjab. During the game, a face-off was captured by media at the Chennai stadium and the characters were Ravichandran Ashwin, the right-arm off-break bowler of the Chennai Super Kings, and Praveen Kumar, the medium-pacer swing bowler of the Kings XI Punjab. According to the report, Ashwin exchanged heated words with Praveen. The hostile gesture of the two players also indicated that they were going to push each other. The date was 28th April, 2012.

Confrontation between King Khan and a Security Guard

When it comes to famous face-offs of Indian Premier League, the incident between bollywood superstar ShahRukh Khan and a security guard can never be missed out. It was 16th May, 2012 and the place was the Wankhede stadium. King Khan was celebrating the victory of the Kolkata Knight riders over the Mumbai Indians that day right after the match. He took a few kids along with him and went down to the playground while a security guard asked him to leave the place by blowing the whistle. SRK complained that the person misbehaved with him and nasty brawl broke out between the two. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) banned the celebrity to enter the Wankhede stadium for the next 5 years.

Recent Quarrel between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, the proud captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and Virat Kohli, the right-handed batsman of the Royal Challengers Bangalore got into a quarrel on 11 April, 2013. The incident started when Gambhir got out at the M Chinnswamy Stadium during the match. This is the most recent controversy that has been played out in the media for the last few days.

To conclude, we can say that IPL is no more about cricket, money, and entertainment only. It is another name of controversy.
