In a shocking incident of police cruelty, the men in khaki showed their muscle power to the villagers in Ambikapur village in Chattisgarh. The villagers were protesting against police inaction on the murder of a villager, Vijay Deonath. The police were saying that the man died in an accident.

The family and friends of dead man rejected the police theory. They blocked the Ambikapur- Banaras National Highway 78, with laying the body across the road at Ajaib Nagar, about 525 kms from Raipur.

The police was provoked after the protest that turned violent. The violence resulted in almost 4-hour khaki assault on villagers of Ambikapur.

Police resorted to lathicharge and fired in the air to disperse the mob. An old man was kicked and his hair pulled by the men in Khakis. The protest turned violent and left 59 persons including 35 cops injured.

When the police were on rampage the men were outnumbered and mercilessly mauled, women are left crying and crawling. The old men were kicked in the face and were pulled by hair.

People are still boiling with the force used by the police on them. Ambikapur DM Rohit Yadav said that he has given order for the detail enquiry into this matter. The ones responsible will not be spared.

Thee Chattisgarh government has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the police lathicharge. Sarguja is the home district of Home Minister Ram Vichar Netam.
