The oomph girl, Mallika Sherawat is all set to enact the role of a night club dancer in the remake of Feroz Khan’s ‘Qurbani’ (1980). Who can forget the sensuous songs like ‘Laila O Laila’ and ‘Hum Tumhe Chahte Hain Aise’, which still haunt the memories of Zeenat Aman’s fans.

Mallika Sherawat will replay the same role in Feroz Khan’s modern-day remake of the film, titled as ‘Qurbani 2’. Feroz has apparently been searching for a heroine for a long time. Priyanka Chopra was reportedly considered for the role but was not finalized. Now, reports allege that Mallika has bagged the part.

In the film, Mallika will be pair with Fardeen Khan who plays the role enacted by his father in the original film. Hunt is still on for another hero to play the role enacted by Vinod Khanna. Saif Ali Khan was initially finalized for the part, but the actor opted out of the project due to date problems. Feroz Khan himself will play the gum-chewing cop, played by Amjad Khan. Biddu and Anand Raaj Anand will compose the music of the film for a new set of songs. The shooting is likely to begin soon.

Sherawat has been known for her courage to express her opinions in public and has always made headlines through her outfits and blunt statements. Her performance in the 2006 film ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’ co-starring Rahul Bose won her praise from around the industry and the film also won Mallika the praise of a good actor. Sherawat, who was recently voted one of Asia’s 100 most beautiful people by the Hong Kong based fashion and beauty magazine, is for sure the best replacement for the sexy and seductress Sheela (Zeenat Aman) of ‘Qurbani’.
