Ma-mati-manush, the slogan raised by Mamata Banerjee.

What does it mean? Mother-motherland-the people. I just add the name of Mamata to the slogan to make it complete and noteworthy. So it stands as the most significantly Ma-mati-manush-o-Mamata.

Ma-Mahajnan is the embodiment of “Ma”, the Omniscient, whereas Mamata is the personification of human sufferings, injustice done to the people. What a great similarity we visualize in both mother and her daughter!

From the very soil of West Bengal was born both Ma-Mahajnan Shreeguru Kanandevi and Smt. Mamata Banerjee– two great children of our motherland. We owe much to both of them. Ma-Mahajnan is the spiritual genius, ever born in the world of humankind. She stands matchless for her untiring contribution to religion, philosophy and literature amid Worldly-cum-Spiritual striving.

How struggling was ever the life of Great Ma-Mahajnan from her very childhood! She came of a very poor family and was brought up as the last issue, one among the thirteen children. With little knowledge of alphabet at the age of thirteen she got married to a physician only to bring up two children of his first wife. She was always busy in her family chores to satisfy the need of her husband and children.

Her domesticity had all along been exemplary. Seated in mass education during vesper hour everyday, her catechism and discourse made religion easy understandable; turned one and all interested in spirituality. She wrote more than one hundred volumes of authentic books. Unfortunately, at the age of 82 she left us forever on the 22 nd day of January of 2011. What a great organizing power she developed attaching great importance to social services and demonstrated locally to make possible so many functions, seminars and symposiums successful every year. Candidly, she was misunderstood during the last decade of her existence among human habitation, since she could not comply with the requests of her selfishly motivated devotees and neighbours.

Again, Mamata Banerjee, one of the greatest leaders of India today has taken oath as the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal at the age of 56 only. Mamata is the name of a lady with flame, designed to set fire to long prevailing cruelty and corruption in West Bengal. She has just been added to signify the truth hidden underneath a tedious struggle. She comes of a poor family, lost her father at the age of 13 only and was brought up among eight brothers and sisters in Kolkata. She completed her education through extreme hardship and won the crucial Parliamentary Election in 1984 at the age of 26 only defeating a political stalwart and Barrister Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, who finished his political career as the Loksabha speaker.

In fact, Smt. Mamata Banerjee looks like a great political fighter of our country honest, sincere, and diligent She has been endowed with a great affinity for all classes of people in our society, Her inclination to art and literature makes her one of the most outstanding leaders of our country. With high aspiration we cherish at heart a thorough change in the administration. Practically, the entire administration in both civil and police is at stake. Especially, the villagers are the worst sufferers at the hands of the unruly cadres of CPI (M).

Finally, let me switch over to a basic concept of this slogan. It all depends on the soil where we are brought up–the environment that enriches us with the best qualities likely to be added to our character. Both mother and her daughter are endowed with the spirit of doing well to our society at large. Ma-Mahajnan expired, might have done what she was designed to do. Mamata, a universal “Didi” desperately moves ahead for better administration in this state. She is likely to leave a mark behind as an exemplary character in West Bengaj and India as well.
