Kerala on top and Bihar at bottom in elementary education ranking

The Central government has issued the first-ever balance sheet on the progress of elementary education in Indian states. It has revealed the new ranking according to their performance.

The ranking report says that the Bimaru states such as Bihar, MP, Rajasthan and UP are still placed at below every state in the list. On the other hand, the Union territories and most of the south Indian states are well ahead of most of the other states.

The National University of Educational Planning and Administration has issued the ranking based on a host of Educational Development Index (EDI).

According to the ranking, Kerala is right at the top position. The next states, in the list, are Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Goa, TN, Sikkim, Delhi, Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

Bihar is at the bottom place in the list and ranked 35, The next states from the bottom are Jharkhand that ranked at 34th place , MP at 33rd, West Bengal at 32nd, Assam at 31st and UP at 29th place.

The states such as Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat have ranked as the top 20.

As far as the new states are concerned, Jharkhand is performing as it is going to become another Bihar. Uttarakhand has ranked at 18the place. While Chhattisgarh has got the 25th place in the ranking list.
