Justice Today, or War Tomorrow

In an unexpected yet not unusual step of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu has called his government to present a proposal for amending law of war after the Goldstone report was voted upon to condemn Israel’s terrorist attacks over Gaza earlier this year.

Netanyhu’s call for a law amendment comes as a desperate plan to help the IDF get away with the crimes carried out in Gaza, while claiming that such a change is needed to help the world with the war against terrorism… –It is a shame that in our world today, “terrorism” is boldly called “war against terrorism”.

“The prime minister instructed the relevant government bodies to examine a worldwide campaign to amend the international laws of war to adapt them to the spread of global terrorism,” his office said in a statement.-The Jordan Times

Well; let’s say the world shamefully cringes once again, and the law changes –now that wouldn’t be surprising at all-, does that make what happened in Gaza alright? Should the world expect the sons of dead parents to just forget about who killed their parents, simply because there is a law that says it was justified? What about those kids who lived through many long sleepless nights wondering if the next bomb will hit their house, should the world expect them to forgive and forget? Well, if the world is this naive then I will be the one to break the news; they won’t forgive, and they won’t forget… So how about some justice now, instead of having to deal with their rightly placed anger when they grow up a little bit?

They may be able to change the law, but they won’t be able to change what they themselves grew inside the heads of those children.
