China is again preparing a plan that must be disturbing for India. The plan is related to block up and to divert the Brahmaputra river.

The next step of the plan would involve to divert 200 billion cubic metres of water to Yellow river per year. This is the alarm of danger for Indian states fed by the river Brahmaputra. This may give Indian government sleepless nights.

However, the ‘Greater Western Water Diversion Project’ is still in the initial stage. This project is a part of South-North water project of China. There would be great engineering challenge to work for the plan.

This is reported that the Chinese President Hu Jintao, who himself is a hydro-engineer is behind this plan. The northeastern China’s dry areas of Shaanxi, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin will be fed by this projected plan.

At the same time, the river Brahmaputra is the biggest source of water of India as well as Bangladesh too. Therefore, India is planning to hold in some talks with China on this issue because this Chinese plan would have immense impact on India and Bangladesh’s water needs.
