Identical twin sisters now sub-inspectors at Pune

Pune’s Bund Garden police station is all set to become a tourist place now for residents of Pune at least. Two sisters, Rohini & Mohini Sonar, daughters of Vijay Dattatray Sonar (Inspector in Mumbai Police), are currently posted as sub-inspectors at the Bund Garden police station in Pune. They are not only the identical twins but they have the same job profile also.

Both were born in five second gap and now they have similar height of 159 cm. Both are graduates in English literature and got almost similar marks in police exam they had attended together. Now they have been posted in the same police station and made the police station as place where people are coming to see the twin sisters.

However, both sisters have said that soon people and their colleagues would identify and notice them for their work. Their colleagues in the police station is facing pleasing problem because of their identical looks and job profile.

Both the sisters, 25-year-olds, completed their graduation in English literature from Nasik. They appeared in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission Examination when they were in first year of post-graduation and cleared the examination with almost same marks. They joined the Maharashtra Police Academy, Nasik in 2005 and completed their training in September 2007.

Before their first posting both had requested the authorities in police department to allot the posting to both of them in the same police station. The authorities agreed and both were given posting in Bund Garden police station, Pune this year.

Their father Vijay Dattatray Sonar is himself a winner of President’s medal for meritorious service inspired both sisters to join police services. Mohini Sonar said:

We were both inspired by our father to join the police service.

They had also done well in NCC during college days. Mohini had topped the naval stream, while Rohini topped the army wing of NCC. Now, both have expressed confidence to rise up the upper ranks in the police department.
