Hide the Beggars For CWG

The old adage “out of sight out of mind” seems to be working perfectly in sync with the thought process of Delhi Government.Unable to get rid of beggars which are a bane for every tourist who visits Delhi by sending them to the neighbouring state, Oh yes they had this overambitious plan of getting rid of them by ordering them to move out of Delhi, but naturally other states saw through this gambit and refused to be accommodating on this issue, actually they had their own quota of beggars and do not require any more.

So Delhi Government is in a royal fix because naturally after spending crores in organising CWG and planning to present Delhi as the “Dream City” they do not want the first impression of the visitors to be marred by the alm-seekers.

So what do they plan to do? Simple herd the whole lot in parks nearby to where they conduct their “business”. The parks , part of green lungs of Delhi will now have shelters for them and also temporary toilets will be built. Not only that they are also considering providing food for them.

The only condition they have to follow is to remain hidden from the eyes of visitors. The parks will be covered by slick banners and other logos to shield them from view.

Wow speaking of pampering, it will be a difficult job for the Government to evict them after the games, afterall who would leave such prime location with all the facilities.

Well it is not the fault of government alone, some social activists who were not thinking straight probably had filed a case in the Supreme court against removal of beggars whom they called devotees and as these so called devotees are squatters and not beggars they cannot be shifted to beggars home.

Well beggars or squatters, they make life hell for any ordinary visitor but even they are waiting for an oppurtunity for a profitable earning from the CWG like many many others.
