Now, in several countries, countrymen are more focused about their personal growth, leading to high levels of corruption, wherein personal benefits are given prime importance rather than national benefits. Here is a list of five countries that are notorious because of their highest levels of corruption.
Somalia
Ranking at 174 out of 174 countries that were studied for their levels of corruption, Somalia is the most corrupt country in the world. The country, which is currently dealing with giants of corruption and conflict, is under political instability and violent uprisings. Somalia, which is currently a battleground of political ideologies, is not just unsafe and insurgency prone, but also corrupts. Lawlessness prevails in most of the parts and people are dying to save their rights.
North Korea
North Korea ties with Somalia when it comes to rising levels of corruption. Due to political and bureaucratic instabilities, the country is reeling under the affects of widespread corruption. Once the Stalinist government collapsed, North Korea witnessed its downfall. Here, you have to pay huge bribes to escape the country or get your work done. Along with corruption, the country is also dealing with internally displaced people and refugees.
Afghanistan
There is nothing to be proud about the fact that three countries compete with each other for the spot in the world’s most corrupt countries. Alike Somalia and North Korea, Afghanistan is also placed at the 174th position in the least of most corrupt countries in the world. Riddled with power politics, violence and bloodsheds, the country is also battling with the traumas of corruption. Bribery is a menace that almost every man in the country has to deal. Sudan
The country that produces over half a million barrels of oil every day is filled with corrupt officials and poor people. The country has lost more than $4 billion dollars in 2005 as a result of corruption. With a score of 13 on 100, it is one those countries where you will have to bribe as much as you can to get your work done.
Myanmar
Myanmar is a beautiful country, rich in natural resources. But the country is dealing with widespread corruption and has fallen in the hands of drug lords and mafia. Even after drafting the anti corruption law, Myanmar still has to deal with grass root level corruption among politicians, bureaucrats as well military regime.
