It was the worst attack since the 1975-90 civil war and a major blow to the US policy on the Middle East when the Hezbollah fighters seized control of Muslim west Beirut. they just routed the supporters of the western-backed government from the region. The US administration has urged Iran and Syria not to extend support to the Lebanese militant group.

End what? West’s dominance in the Middle East? I mean, are you really serious? This is absurd. It means there would be more US and Israeli interference in to the affairs of Lebanon and more bombing campaigns inside Lebanon by Israelis (of course with US backing). Remember how Bush bullied Syria out of Lebanon following the Hariri murder? It’s not the West. It’s USA and its 51st state Israel that needs excuses to stay put in the region.

Dominance in the Mid East won’t end just because of an insignificant victory by a militia in a country as divided as Lebanon. How many Arab countries are pawns to the Americans? How many are secret Israel friends? If at all, it is bad news for the Hezbollah supporters - Iran and Syria. There is no doubt that Israel will up the ante now against it should Hezbollah starts hitting Israeli territories again with rockets.
