World's tallest residential building to come up in Mumbai
Touted as the tallest residential building in the world, the 117-storey residential tower at Lower Parel, a bustling suburb in Mumbai, will soon be a reality as the project has received the much awaited Environment Panel's clearance.

Christened as World One, the project is being executed by the Lodha Group.
The green nod for the project comes after the developer reduced 75,481 sq metre of the total construction area. In May this year, the Environment Panel had asked the developer to make changes in the project, saying that it had “unacceptably high” construction area. Observing that the total construction area of 7.14 lakh sq metres was more than 13.3 times the net plot area, the Panel had said this could stretch the available infrastructure in the area, besides affecting traffic on the roads outside the building.
Lodha has brought the construction area down marginally to 6.38 lakh sq metres, less than 12 times the net plot area.
The residential and commercial redevelopment project by Lodha Group, includes two residential and two commercial buildings, besides one building for tenants and a municipal parking block. Lodha has reduced the proposed car park from 3,786 cars to 3,228, and reduced one podium each from the residential and commercial buildings.
The developer is also likely to have cut back on the super built-up areas such as lobbies, galleries and awnings. Another way to reduce the construction area is cut the size of the 993 flats. It has also proposed a green belt of 12,522 sq metres.
