Women Reservation-- Why Not?

Before anyone jumps in to accuse me of being a feminist as many have done before just hear me out.Previously I was one of the anti reservation brigade, the present SC/ST reservation scenario is not actually appealing. The creamy layer and the already haves are taking full advantage while the have-nots are still in the miserable, pitiable conditions with no succour in sight.

I was and am of the feeling that women are multifaceted human beings, they are intelligent just look at the results which come out each year every time it is the girls who are the top scorers.They are able to manage in every field given proper chance.Of course there are exceptions are there not everywhere?

So, I was of the opinion that when we are able to do everything why we need reservation. We have got the necessary talent to move forward without using the crutches of Womens' reservation.

That was before I started teaching the children of the lesser privileged section.There I realised that even though the daughters of the maids,and others like them are intelligent, in fact I founf that all girls were doing well in their studies while the boys despite having the privileges like studying in English medium,having all the books, best stationery they could afford were lagging behind.

The worst part being that even the most intelligent girl was supposed to help her mother in her work and also look after the house in her absence.The boys were pushed to go to school reluctantly while the girls were pulled back.Their accomplishments were always ignored or downplayed.

When these girls will grow up they actually need reservation for their betterment,to imrove their lot.Than no policemen will be calling any woman to their police station and gangraping her.

If women reservation means improving the lot of such women I for one is all for it. Just bring it on as early as possible
