Every single day is ‘a day in hell’ for women in Afghanistan as their submersion into the deepest kinds of physical and mental torture goes on unchecked in most parts of the country.
In the latest waves of unjustified crimes by lust and voracious men two young girls of 17 and 13 years of age have been victimized in two different provinces. The wolves though come from reputed backgrounds at least in the local context.
In the first incident of heinous crime, the monster happens to be the Secretary of Justice for the Province of Logar. The illustrations tell that a girl in the age of 17 had tried to escape from her house (reasons unknown yet) but was arrested and brought to the Secretary of Justice to convince her go back to her home and save the honor and dignity of her family. However, reports narrate that when she was brought to this monster, he tried to convince her in a separate room for sex and an honorable return to her home, when she turned down the offer, the secretary took out his gun and raped her at gun point. It’s also said that the incident was witnessed by a male and a female relative of the girl who have ultimately filed a case against the secretary but who cares? Who hears? The judge in a lower court has dismissed the case on grounds of ‘lack of substantial evidence’.
In the second case, a 60 year old Mullah (Madrassa Teacher) in the newly-declared province of Daikundi has hit upon a formula of raping his young girl students. However, it failed when a 13 year old girl exposed the imposter and charged him with his voracious act.
The old Mullah has raped a 13 year old girl in his Madrassa. The narrations that spread like a jungle fire, tells that the Mullah teaches young girls in a Madrassa. In this particular case he asked the young innocent 13 years old girl to see him alone saying he has a special medicine that enhances faster learning. The poor girl met him as was told. For Mullah the plot succeeded and after giving her some kind of medication that made the girl go unconscious; the Mullah went on with his agenda and raped the young girl. Later on when he was exposed before the public, the same Mullah offered to take the girl into his Nikkah (Marriage) as compensation but the family of the girl refuses to do so.
It has been learnt that the clever Mullah has already used with great success the same formula over a 15 year old girl just a year ago.
These two inhumane incidents have captured wide media attention and have been harshly condemned. When people like the Secretary of Justice are mentally sick, where would the public go for justice? Who will hear their pleas? In such a scenario, hatred against the government set up is the result that the present government doesn’t have the time to tolerate. On the part of the government, however, it’s very emphatic that the Secretary of Justice is sued in a court of law and given the toughest punishment possible to ensure everyone is equal in the eyes of law.
