Women are Punished for being raped- be it India or Afghanistan

It is a fact, women is always on the receiving end. If she is raped, she undergoes multiple trauma, first being defiled against her wishes and than she is socially ostracised by everyone including her own family.

Same thing happened in Central Afghanistan as reported in the news. A 14 year old girl was first raped, unfortunately she got pregnant. It seems that her ordeal did not end there.

Her brother and her mother performed an abortion on her in the cattle shed. The brother who has been arrested by the police has confessed to cutting her stomach with a razor blade and removing and burying her fetus. He said he acted alone. Want to know how old the fetus was it was five months old.

The mother has not yet been arrested because she lives in a remote area as per the provincial police chief Ewaz Khan. The poor girl was in a critical condition on Friday at Bagram Airbase near Kabul having been flown here the night before for treatment.

Capt. Elizabeth Mathias a spokeswoman for the US Forces has confirmed that the girl was five months pregnant when she underwent the barbaric, traumatic C section.

Every time it is the same story. Either the girl is killed, the so called honor killing in India comes in the same category or there are hair raising stories, always with the woman being discriminated against.

Is there no end to the discrimination against women despite having equal fundamental rights, the right to live with dignity being the most important one.
