A Pennsylvania medical examiner says the body of a woman linked to a mystery newborn baby had been partially eviscerated and her uterus was cut open.

The body was found in the western Pennsylvania apartment of another woman who police say showed up at a hospital with a newborn she falsely claimed was hers.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office in Pittsburgh isn’t saying whether the dead woman was the baby’s mother.

Authorities conducting the autopsy Saturday said the exact cause of death hadn’t been determined.

The body’s hands and feet were bound with duct tape.
