Will the United State Recognize 1967 Palestine?
Recently Brazil, one of the key emerging BRIC nations, recognized Palestine within 1967 borders. This was quickly followed by Argentina and Uruguay.

And, to add further standing for Palestine, the European Union's gathering of foreign ministers issued joint declaration stating that they look with favor upon recognizing a Palestinian state in 1967 border in 2011.
Israel greatly worries that the Palestinians will push for a United Nations Security Council Resolution recognizing Palestine in 1967 borders. The very fact that Israel is worried about something which it ostensibly claims to support anyway - a two-state solution along 1967 lines, more or less - and is negotiating toward is a reflection of Israel's empty words and its true malicious intentions in the region.
Israelis want the United States to veto any such resolution if it arises. And certainly the Israel lobby will go to bat on this issue. But the Obama administration, feud up with Israeli intransigence, may eventually end up believing that such a maneuver may be the necessary pressure to bring Israel around. Israelis fear that such a step will further their international pariah status and instead of negotiating now to avoid that fate they continue to dig deeper into the West Bank, figuratively and literally, and then sit around and wonder with arrogant befuddlement, why is the world more and more against us?
The United States should stand for a free Palestine that day when it comes and truly bring international weight to bear against Israel and finally pass a UNSC resolution worthy of its name and one that finally recognizes the national rights of the only people who truly have rights over that land.
