The fanatical totalitarian Dutch bigot Greet Wilders is currently seeking to further his image as some martyr for freedom. Wildres thrives on controversy. He deliberates seeks to say the most provocative hateful statement against Islam and Muslims in order to provoke some Muslim fanatic to threaten his life so that Wilders can "prove" his point that Muslims are violent and that he is a courageous fighter for freedom.
But it is all a rich act. Wildres does not believe in freedom: He has called for banning the Qur'an and fining women who wear the veil, not the face-covering burqa mind you, but simply the veil. To him freedom should not extend toward Muslims. And this person who claims that there are attempts to silence his views rejected an invite from a Dutch Muslim television channel to discuss his anti-Islam short film. The "threats" to his life are mostly a fabrication of his own P.R. to further his image. Most Muslims in the Netherlands have decided to ignore Wildres and not to respond angrily to his incendiary rhetoric which would only play into his hands and his ego.
Wildres has become a star on the anti-Islam circuit. He recently attended the anti-Islam rally in lower Manhattan to protest an Islamic community center. His new talking point is that Muslims threaten a "New Mecca". And he never tires of boosting how superior Western culture is: “Our culture, which is based on Christianity, Judaism and humanism, is better than the retarded Islamic culture.”
He's known to be eloquent. And how nice of him to include Judaism in "our culture" when the Dutch contemporaries of Wildres in WW2 set up their own para-militia to round up Dutch Jews and send them to death camps.
But Wildres is oblivious to that history as demonstrated in his recent language at a rally in Germany:
“Germany, too, needs a political movement that defends the national identity of the country.”
Yes, what Germany needs is a far-right, hateful extreme nationalist movement. How did that turn out the first time?
