Wikileaks: Media Does Not Want To Report On Israel
I have recently posed the question: Why No Israel On Wikileaks?

I had my theories:
First, U.S. diplomats are loath to criticize or mock Israel or Israelis in their cables because political appointees will look not too kindly on such antagonism and it will hurt one’s career advancement to be seen as anything but a rapid Likudnik.
But, secondly, Wikileaks does not have “Top Secret” cables and nothing more than “Secret”. Cables arriving from Occupied Palestine, or “Israel”, are usually labeled “Top Secret” for reasons of domestic politically sensitivity toward Israel. So it’s also a question of access which Wikileaks does not have.
It did seem unbecoming that Israel was rarely viewed in the cables for a nation that figures so prominently in American affairs in the Middle East.
Some experts opined as well: Ed Abington, U.S. consul general in Jerusalem from 1993 to 1997 wrote that “The U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv has been so out of the loop for the last six years that their reporting is about what you read in the Israeli press (probably where they get most of their information ). There’s a channel U.S. embassies use for very sensitive information and I don’t think WikiLeaks has those cables. As for Tel Aviv, the last two ambassadors have not been risk-takers and have had a very low profile. I doubt they have been willing to rock the boat, and may not have had much, if any, inside information.” He further asks: “Where is that reporting?”
Well, now we know the real reason:
In an excusive interview with Al Jazeera, Assange said only a meagre number of files related to Israel had been published so far, because the newspapers in the West that were given exclusive rights to publish the secret documents were reluctant to publish many sensitive information about Israel.
“There are 3,700 files related to Israel and the source of 2,700 files is Israel. In the next six months we intend to publish more files depending on our sources,” said Assange in the nearly one-hour interview telecast live from the UK.
Assange said that Wikileaks will release Top Secret U.S. diplomatic cables dealing with Israel in the next 6months. Here's hoping not a day too late and worth the wait.
