Why Virginity is at a premium

I was shocked to read in today’s paper that a girl wishes to auction her virginity on line to fund her university education

In India prostitutes are known to demand a hefty premium for deflowering a virgin known as nath utrai (taking off the nose ring )in northern India.

I really wonder why virginity is such a big issue & that too only for women, no such luck for men.Lots of myths surround virginity

People think that having sex with a virgin can make them virile or cure their sexual diseases & other weird stuff like that Virgins are supposed to be pure & innocent.

The virginity of Mother Mary has been shrouded with so much of controversy. The whole concept baffles my rational mind not that I am a believer in free sex but I do not give too much of importance to it either.

There has to be a first time for every thing first sexual experience is one of these. After all it is nothing but the perforation of a shield which perhaps serves no real purpose that too only for women, for men, no such hindrance. Trust & understanding is the bedrock of any relationship more so in marriage. But the same begins from the time the couple decide to share the life.

while every one has a past & like the insurance contract to have a smooth relationship later the couple is expected to share the material parts of their past life including any previous relationship.

It is really surprising that while men treats their past relationships casually they expect their partners to have no physical relationship. In the past even in case of a girlfriend scenario the hypocrisy is quite apparent.

In this age when people become sexually aware early in life & marry late once they are financially comfortable pre-marriage relationships are rampant.

In a scenario where the girl claims to be a virgin she is put to test on the wedding night & if she enjoys the experience or the physical evidence of her virginity is not available then the man starts doubting her character in many cases.

Such doubt may be fatal & may result in honor killing by stoning in middle east or Muslim dominated countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.

What the hell. How one enjoys ones body is one’s own business at best if it is not in conformity with social norms a society may bar him her from its membership by banning any social contacts

In good old days this meant no marriage within society, not being part of any community function & being debarred from using community resources including water or may be imposition of a hefty fine or some community fate or may be exile in Indian context.

In middle east or Afghanistan one has to part with life in African countries female genitals are mutilated so that they may not be able to enjoy sex. In Anglo Saxon society there is the concept of chastity belt.

Even in bible eve is supposed to have corrupted Adam by enticing him to have the prohibited apple.I wonder why only women have to cover them selves in veil are there no good looking men or women can not be attracted to them being statues with no emotions or physical needs. Why only widows have to stop enjoying all the pleasures of life including wearing special dresses & not being part of any festive occasion.

Only married ladies have to declare their marital status by applying sindur or special banfles or mangal sutra no such requirement for men. No bindings on widower men whatsoever

I remember an old Hindi movie padosan whereas an old widower justifies his desire to marry by saying that he is like a golden ring which never gets old only the finger wearing the same gets (lady)old.

Why parent are worried about the marriage of their daughters which is supposed to be the end of their duties. Marriage of the son is important only so that there can be an offspring to carry on family name & to perform special rituals for ancestors known as shradha for ancestors.

I wonder why only men can enjoy sex with hurs (beautiful virgins) in heaven for the good deeds & there is no such luck for women, for what reason I fail to understand. Also in Hindu mythology, there are Apsras (fair courtesans )in swarg, Gandharvs (the male counterparts )are not prominently mentioned.

I wonder why only a lady has to prove her chastity just like in Ramayan where sita had to prove her chastity again & again with no onus on Ram to reciprocate & even when her innocence was established she was sent to exile during her pregnancy.

Similarly in Mahabharata draupadi was made to share her bed with 5 persons & there was no question of her having any choice in the matter.

Will it not be in fitness of the thing to remove the tiny covering surgically before hand to make the experience pleasant one for both the parties.

I feel even nature is unfair to women as only they have to undergo the menstruation inconvenience or menopause related discomfort.

The first sexual encounter is painful for them only. Only they have to bear the inconvenience of pregnancy & labor pain as also the pre-delivery confinement as also the physical changes & the onus to feed the baby.

Only their career suffers. Even when both the partners are working household chores are supposed to be the women’ s job even though both work equally hard or may be the lady works harder. Only they have to subject themselves to the desire of the their partner willingly or unwillingly.

Only they have to shift to their husband, in laws house & change their surname. Only up to some time ago in government documents father’s name was substituted by husband’s name .

In Hindu huf only man can be karta & two men were needed for an huf to remain in existence for quite some time.

Countless number of women have to undergo marital rape silently

Coming together is a matter of choice for both the partners but in real life the women being financially dependent are not having much of the say.

If for any reason a lady is unable to conceive then she only is called infertile there is no question of the medical examination of man.

The gender of the baby is not in the hand of the lady but only she receives cold vibes if the baby is a girl child.

For that matter why manhood should be the preferred gender? In case of death of wife friends & relatives force the widower to re marry but even in this day all ladies are not fortunate enough to remarry may be for the division of the property or the called family honor.

s it because of dowry or carrying forward of family name or the privilege to perform last rites or post death rituals which are supposed to be the prerogative of man only.

So even God is scared of women Or they are not worthy enough to worship him, for that reason why God is a man?
