It appears that some elements in media and government are working in tandem to create or manufacture a situation of confrontation between the various sects.On the one hand we find some minsters in the present government single-handedly trying to disintegrate the secular structure with their sinister appeasement theories and,on the other hand,some sterling magazines like Outlook ,keeping at bay the attributes like impartiality and transparency ,are fanning the flames of hatred with their jaundiced takes on sensitive issues.
The same media that leaves no stone unturned in highlighting the attacks on Christian or Islamic institutions is silent over the atrocities committed upon the Hindu saints by the law enforcing agencies.Some prominent publications like Frontline,The Hindu and Outlook that boasts of upholding the secular values are silent over the marginalization of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir and ever deteriorating condition of Hindus in Pakistan.
They have also maintained a deathly silence over the repercussions of following secular wishes of present government.These publications that are shedding tears over the demolition of Babri Mosque are unable to unfold the fact that how weak this government had been in preventing the growth Islamic terrorists in India ? On the contrary,they come out with absurd theories that terrorism in India is result of fall of Babari mosque.Thank God they did not tell all of us that U.S. was attacked because it failed to protect the demolition of Babri !!
The U.S. has manged to punish the culprits responsible for hurting its pride but look at us.The secular souls are terribly hurt the way human rights of Afzal been trampled upon.These publications are filled with articles that talk about rights of terrorists and these articles are written by some big names in world of literature like Arundhati Roy !! Probably,that's why government is spending millions on Ajmal Kasab to ensure his human rights at least in the eyes of secular souls !! They are all going gaga over recent recommendations by Rangnath Committee but are totally absent minded in realizing that poverty or backwardness is not confined to any particular sect or community.If that's the case why the hell this government is so selective in its approach ?
Sometimes back I posted a response when a friend of mine revealed the sinister designs of Indian media: 'Secularism in our country means making Hindu traditions and beliefs butt of ridicule. So many complexities have arisen because of media’s biased and satanic approach. Unfortunately, the data provided by them is treated as gospel truth by the Western media. The Western media project these dubious facts to place us in the dock. This unholy nexus has caused great harm to the image of Hindus and the image of India.'
In an irony of sorts our 'gentle' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh doesn't find anything wrong in becoming the medium for execution of partisan agendas .Without sounding cynical, I wish to state that instead of wasting precious paper on exploring unwanted issues in biased manner your magazine could serve the cause of journalism in a better way by rising above sectarian tendencies.
There is little point in acting as the mouthpiece of a government riding the wave of outrageous sensibilities.It's another thing if they are interested in 'Islamization' of secular fabric of India !!
