Why big powers like US and EU independently attach so much importance to India?
Dear Instablog Team, would you kindly upload a photo to my blog?
US president Barack Obama had announced support for India's entry into NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Group). French President Nicolas Sarkozy too has backed India for the same during his enduring visit to India. French president Nicolas Sarkozy and PM Manmohan Singh talked at length. German Chancellor Angela Merkel gives her clear verdict. O yes, ‘we are in the same boat’ for some specific interests. Presently, the world is no more unipolar. And we are to face the adversities collectively.
India is to gain entry into the 46-member of NSG, which controls all nuclear commerce. Germany has said it will support full membership for India in the elite nuclear club. Germany is the third major country, after the US and France, to back India's case for NSG membership in quick succession.
France, like the other big N-suppliers the US and Russia, wants their firms, like Areva, to be safeguarded from the claims of damages from a nuclear accident. O no, since it involves a great risk, we must think twice before we get into any negotiation. Aren’t we one of the worst sufferers?
Frankly, why should a nuclear-deal lately between India and France shroud with doubt? The question of liability—O yes, it is to be gravely mentioned. After all we can not forget the tragedy of large number of victims under the spell of Bhopal gas disaster. More than quarter of a century had already passed, nothing could we gain till today for those wretched people. After any mishaps any foreigner flies away keeping us in the lurch.
The innocent people suffer for nothing for decades together. Politics plays dirty games not to allow the matter to settle once and for all. So it is better to begin with clear cut decisions and better understanding. Again since it is anew aspect we should pay due interest in all the possibilities to keep the unwanted situation likely to interfere at any moment.
Now, thinking about India’s permanent seat in UN Security Council, any reform is now just possible. In this context we should have the sagacity as regards any conciliation, specifically on the matters related to terrorism, climate change and world peace.
To add a little, at least for one thing we owe to the terrorist. They are bringing all the big powers coming closer to India. Even the dirty game started by the Wikileaks, none could do any harm to India. Pakistan, our twin brother, may misunderstand us but after independence the spirit we keep up till today should have been expected from her, too. After all both the sisters (may be brothers) are born of the same womb, aren’t we?
However, in spite of everything our culture, democratic outlook, balanced economy and open market with vast opportunity in IT world we are ahead of so many countries around the world. One thing is to be remembered that without giving due importance to spirituality we will not be able to restore balance. From the age of Sanatana Dharma to the realization of today, expressed in a state of ‘conscious trance’ spirituality is to be understood.
This is the great possibility, I think, that would force others to cherish at heart the idea of world peace. After all, a dire necessarily would compel us to seek for the next generation the ultimate gain being human being. And that is nothing but all round progress and prosperity in the light of science and technology.
In this connection I am proud to mention political stalwarts like Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Prornab Mukherjee and a few others at present in New Delhi and in some states as in Bihar Nitish Kumar and undaunted Didi, Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. This is the high time to make the most of all such critical issues. Let us hope for the best and wishing all the best for our future generations.
