On Saturday the 26th of March, 2011, Eman al-Obaidi, a Libyan lady, has entered a hotel full of foreign journalists in Tripoli/Libya to tell her story of being raped and abused by Qathafi’s militia.
As the woman cried and pleaded for help, uncovering her bruised legs, hotel staff and plainclothes-security men grabbed her and took her into a car to an unknown destination, after pushing and intimidating some of the journalists who were trying to interview her .
(“Investigators phoned me and said she was drunk, that she could be suffering mentally,” Libya’s government spokesman Mussa Ibrahim told reporters, citing a preliminary report.“We are checking who she is, who her father is, who her brothers and sisters are, whether she was really abused or whether it’s fantasies.”

As much as I was, and still am, in agony for that lady, thinking about what she had gone through, and what she will be experiencing at this moment after being taken to an unknown place, possibly to suffer from the same kind of abuse and torture she was running from, I am also astonished by the nerves these thugs have, going on a press conference and saying that the lady was drunk, and suffering mentally… This man actually works for Al Qathafi, and still dares to point to a traumatized lady referring to her as if she is mentally unstable. Now THAT goes beyond my understanding… If this lady is mentally unstable, exactly what category does Al Qathafi fit under?
I pray for Eman Al Obaidi, and I hope she finds freedom, peace and justice soon… Amen.
