Where there is a will there is a way
In any locality there is the local bully who terrorizes the neighbor hood. In our locality too there was such a one. The college going girls, the young working mothers and even moms in their 40s were not spared by this bully and his cohorts.

This was brought up in one of our society meetings and I offered to mediate on behalf of the tormented residents.I approached them one morning at the nukkad outside our society`s gate. I invited them for chai at the Irani restaurant - explained my purpose and requested them to avoid "eve teasing". They had their chai, thanked me for it and asked me to mind my own business and not to poke my nose in theirs. I left a little disappointed but not disheartened.
I called a meeting of all the young guys in our society, a special meeting for the youths of our society, a small bottle of soft drink, a curry puff and a movie ticket at the cineplex was offered and there were many takers, about 50 boys and 20 girls, all between the ages of 17 - 25.
The interaction went on for over two hours. I found that among the boys and girls there were at least 15 who were training in various martial arts, Judo, Kick boxing, karate, tae kwon do among others.
We formed 8 teams of 6 members each, led by one of the martial art students. We planned, acted on it and executed to perfection. We also got help from one of our residents who is a SP of a neighboring district.
One morning, a group of girls left for the college, they encountered the tormentors at the nukkad as the leader of the gang moved towards the young ladies, 12 of the martial art experts arrived in two cars.
The leader was caught by the scruff of the neck and taken to the police station. Each of the girls and the dozen boys all signed a complaint, the local cop at first refused to book a case, a call from the SP was sufficient. The gang leader and three of his cohorts were officially arrested. They were to appear in court the next day.
I visited the PS in the evening - requested permission from the officer to speak with the 4 kids in lock up. I gave them a deal, they could not refuse. They were happy to go home and we have not seen any of them in that nukkad since then.
I offered the kids that if they disappear from the nukkad. I would get the residents to withdraw the complaint, with certain conditions. They were too glad to accept our deal. They were so tough on the streets, but I could sense the fear when I met them at the PS and I could see it in their eyes.
