When Funny Gets Scary
The usually funny guy with the most flashy clothes amongst his playmates, is not acting so funny anymore (well, the funny factor is still there, just hidden below another, much stronger, factor): Muammar Al Kathafi has turned from “funny” to “out of control”.
This happened as riots broke in Libya last Tuesday the 15th of February, 2011, which is two days before the primary date of 17th of February; a preplanned “day of rage”.
“Thursday is the anniversary of clashes on Feb. 17, 2006 in Benghazi when security forces killed several protesters who were attacking the city's Italian consulate.Rights group Amnesty International voiced concern about a new crackdown. "The Libyan authorities must allow peaceful protests, not try to stifle them with heavy-handed repression," it said in a statement.”- www.trust.org
But the term “peaceful protests” is far from what really happened, as current death toll due to attacks on protesters probably tops 1000 according to Italy’s foreign minister.
(Figures for deaths in the Libyan unrest have been difficult to pin down. Human Rights Watch has confirmed roughly 300 deaths in the weeklong uprising, while noting that its estimate is conservative because of the difficulty in gathering information from morgues and hospitals when phone service is intermittent and the Internet is nearly blacked out.Mr. Frattini did not explain the basis for his conclusion, and his spokesman, Maurizio Massari, said only that the information came “from sources that we believe to be credible.” ) www.nytimes.com
Mua’ammar Al Kathafi said in his speech on the subject that he has not used force just yet, and that, if needed, he will use it, according to international law (of course)… If causing the death of 500-1000 people is not considered as an excessive use of force, then I am not sure what is…

However,if we ignore the part related to the use of force in Kathafi’s speech, we could be reassured that the man has not totally lost his touch as a comedian, as he definitely presented a speech that no other could present, well, at least no other president could (stand up comedians are able to do so though).
Kathafi has blamed the riots on… guess what!!---> HALLUCINATION PILLS… yes people… Hallucination pills are bad… You try and remember that the next time someone offers you this stuff.. I mean, we wouldn’t want to find you all in your hometown streets rioting against your decent leaders now, do we!!!
