What US should do in Iraq to restore peace
In the recent concluded elections in the US, the Democrats have been assigned by the electorates to take a new approach on Iraq. This was a mandate and just given a glimpse of public view that they were not in favor of invading Iraq.

Making Islam in the center point of any significant change in the policy for Iraq would not be as fruitful for both US as well as Iraq.
If the US policy makers want to eradicate Al-Qaeda influence from Iraq and to give democracy a foothold in reality, they should have a better understanding of Islam and its culture.
In Iraq, the ousting of Saddam Hussein has paved the way of making another 'Hizbullah' in this Asian region. It is in the form of the Mahdi Army.
It has got the name of an Islamic messiah (the Mahdi) who is expected to come back to establish justice at the end of the world.
The Mahdi Army plans to retain its military strength until the state cannot ensure security. It would work as a resistance force for Al-Qaeda in Iraq.
The rise of the Mahdi Army, originated to cover the Shi'a community, will have the involuntary effect to clear Iraq from international jihadists in a way the U.S. military cannot.
The Mahdi's name came out during the chaos when Muslims felt a conspicuous need for rescue. However, the Shi'a community in Iraq has been showed the courage and will to move toward democratic direction.
The Shi'a communities in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon has pursued the popular elections according to the democratic principles.
The nature of Iraq's democracy would be Islamic in nature. The US policy makers should get it clearly that in the long-term; Iraq does not need US presence to establish democracy in the country.
Now, the question is that Does US really wants to establish democratic set up there or it has some other interest in the region.
There are some other concerns too for Iraq's new establishments. It will have to maintain good relation with its neighbors such as Iran, Syria and others. The relation should exist whether positively or negatively but there will be no need of US intervention in the matter.
The US should perceive one thing very clearly that they can't win back respect without respecting the people of the region. Also, it's high time they should recognize Islam as an indelible part of the Muslims' way of life.
One thing is almost certain at this point of time, if the United States does stay in Iraq in near future, Al-Qaeda and other Muslim radical groups would easily control the legitimacy of Muslim leadership as well as Common people in the country.
The U.S. presence in Iraq would be paving the reason for Al-Qaeda's presence in that country. The US policy makers will have to make one thing very clear, if they really want to restore peace and democracy in Iraq, change the policy and start removing troops from there.
However, on the other hand, US is showing no mood to reduce the number of troops in Iraq. The U.S. Defense Department announced that 57,000 soldiers would deploy to Iraq and about 8,300 to Afghanistan. They will replace soldiers already serving there. It is really making the future of Iraq as doom.
