Washington's Record Snow Storm
Washington is not exactly the city that never sleeps, nonetheless the nation's Capital is less lively than usual this Saturday as a record December blizzard has shut down metro, made traffic nearly impossible and even forced the president to return home early from Copenhagen.

Ronald Reagan National and Baltimore-Washington International airport are in effect closed, though both may be open for some takeoffs and landings later tonight. The blizzard warning is in effect until 6pm. The D.C. area is expected to average 20inches with some places seeing even more than 2ft of snow.
The mayor of Washington, Adrian M. Fenty, declared a snow emergency, following the state of emergency that Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia declared on Friday in advance of the storm.“This is one of the bigger ones,” said Kevin Witt, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in the Baltimore-Washington forecast office in Sterling, Va.
The massive snow storm is overshadowing the north east during the busiest holiday shopping week of the year. With people trapped in their homes, retailers are expected to lose billions but online sellers like Amazon may be big winners.
Unfortunately those hoping the snow storm would shut down Congress and make the Democrats miss their Christmas deadline for passing health care will be disappointed. The Democrats have actually moved closer to the passage of the bill with finally securing their 60-filibuster proof vote.
Pray for more snow.
