Time magazine has dug up an old photo circa 1980 of a college Freshman Occidental University Barack Obama. The photo will be featured in Time magazine's "Person of the Year" issue. Barack Obama is, of course, the "Person".
In the photo Obama appears to be smoking what could easily be pot, Obama has admitted to past use of marijuana.
When asked about what Obama is smoking on MSNBC, Time's chief editor, Rick Stengel, stated that Obama is smoking a cigarette.
"He's smoking a cigarette there. The photographer is a woman who was a student also at Occidental when Obama was there. Obama was a freshman. I think she was a little bit older. She was an aspiring photographer. She was taking portraits of people at Occidental and somebody said to her, hey, there's this really interesting freshman who you might want to take a picture of. She got in touch with him and he agreed to come and pose over at her dorm room. She said he came with a Panama hat and a leather jacket and a pack of cigarettes," Stengel stated.
Obama gave up smoking in early 2007 as a condition made by his wife for her support for his presidential campaign. Although no longer a regular smoker, Obama has omitted that during the arduous campaign he would sometimes smoke a cigarette.
