Was Arafat Killed by Israel?

Shocking news for all but already-suspecting conspiracy theorists broke in the Middle East this week when a senior Fatah official, the current party that illegal runs the puppet Palestinian Authority, Faruq Qaddami stated in a press conference and then subsequently on an interview broadcast by al-Jazeera that current PA illegal "President" Mahamoud Abass conspired with Israel to kill Arafat in 2003.

Arafat died in 2004 in a Parisian hospital where he was sent for medical treatment. Qaddami did not say that Abass, who has since banned al-Jazeera from the West Bank and threatened legal action for their interview, actually did commit the deed, but did not refute the notion either.

Abass has been too much of a coward to directly challenge Qaddami so he has picked on al-Jazeera instead. Big mistake. al-Jazeera has fired back as it did when the Jordanian and Saudi governments also attacked the network. They have amplified the story so that every Arab has now heard several times the accusation that the current self-appointed representative of the Palestinians is even more a Zionist collaborator than Arab already knew. Abass has no credibility as it is. When he was prime minister under Arafat, Arafat called him the "Hamad Karazai of Palestine" [i.e. Western puppet]. His term as president expired in January and he has been hanging at the behest of the Israelis as their drooling puppet. The Kuwaiti parliament even considering banning him from an address because of his subservience to the occupation.

But even given all this, I have doubt as to whether Abass was involved in a plot against Arafat. Qaddami's recitation does not sound plausible. Although Abass has not publicly denied the accusation, I think this is because he does not want to be on the defensive against such a outstanding claim.

Having said that Abass is still a client of the Israelis and I do believe that Arafat was killed prematurely, and it is not beyond belief for Abass to have played a role.
