Mumbai, 8 Oct.: Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC), Mumbai received the sad news of demise of Maulana Ghulam Rasool Khamush with utter shock and grief. Around 71 years old Maulana Khamush has been the Karguzar Muhtamim (working rector/VC) of Darul Uloom Deoband since 2003. He breathed his last at around 5:30 PM today, just before Maghrib time, in his office at Darul Uloom. His funeral prayer will be performed tomorrow (Saturday) at 8 AM and will be buried at Mazar-e Qasmi of Deoband.
Mumbai based business man (owner of Hotel Bustan etc.) Maul. Ghulam Rasool Khamush was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Karachi, Binnori Town (present Pakistan). He belonged to Chappi, Bannerghatta district of Gujarat besides being a member or trustee of various masajid and madaris in Mumbai and Gujarat.
Maulana Khamush has left behind 3 sons -- Maul. Salman, Maul. Nizamuddin and Abdur Rashid, and 4 daughters. He was the Khalifa (spiritual disciple) of Shaikh Maulana Yunus of Saharanpur, UP and was a very poise and polite but hardworking administrator.
The students of MMERC, Mumbai prayed and called a condolence meet today just after the Maghrib prayer. Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, president of Markazul Ma’arif and Lok Sabha MP, and all lecturers and students of MMERC offered condolence to his family and heirs.
All alumni of Darul Uloom Deoabnd across the world received his news of demise with grief and are offering prayers for the departed soul.
