The U.S.-led coalition says one of its soldiers has died of wounds sustained in a roadside bombing in western Afghanistan.
The coalition statement says the blast happened on Monday. It does not disclose the soldier’s nationality or the exact location of the bombing.
Separately, another coalition unit killed “several militants” and detained two others during a raid in the northern Kapisa province on Tuesday.
The coalition says their troops were searching the compound of a militant commander involved in attacks on Afghan and foreign troops.
More than 2,700 people have died in insurgency-related violence so far this year, according to an Associated Press tally of figures provided by Afghan and Western officials
