US, Japan join hands to implement fresh UN sanctions on N. Korea
The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has kicked off her Asian tour to gather support for implementing UN sanctions on North Korea. Ms Rice asserts that US will defend Japan on all fronts in the wake of fresh North Korean nuclear tests and threats, if any.

Apparently, North Korea is prepared for this despite international pressure, and rumors, confirmed by both South Korea and Japan's intelligence agencies that the country is preparing for its second nuclear tests too, proves it.
Ms Rice said:
The way to deal with the security threat (North Korea) poses is to draw on the very strong alliances that we have with South Korea and Japan on which they can fully rely for their security from this specific threat.
With the tour, Ms Rice's aims to pull together Asian countries and execute strict sanctions, discussed by the Security Council, as soon as possible, and also more importantly, win over them for not to join the nuclear weapon bandwagon. The US presses upon Japan and South Korea to inspect suspected N. Korean cargo vessels, which the two countries are not doing so far with the fear of further conflict.
No doubt, by going nuclear, North Korea has isolated itself from the rest of the global community and any further test will escalate the situation. However, we cannot deny the fact that the UN sanctions won't help curb countries from conducting nuclear tests. Instead, there is a need to create a global congenial environment and carve out a concrete platform whereupon all nations don't ever feel a need to go ahead with these self-destructing and disastrous acts, which US and the rest of us have failed to do.
