Officials at the University of Iowa have more than tripled their estimate on flood damage, with the tab now expected to exceed $230 million.
University officials compiled the estimate at the direction of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and released it Tuesday.
Previous estimates had pegged cleanup and repair costs around $75 million. School officials had said they expected the figure to increase.
The costs include more than $135 million in damage to 20 buildings and more than $50 million in damage to contents.
The damage was caused by the Iowa River.
