Two more Journalists executed in Mexico
The recent murders of Marco Aurelio Alcaraz Martínez and Guillermo Trejo Tijerina, which occurred last weekend, have not only left the Mexican Journalist Guild in mourning, but democracy as well.

Marco Aurelio Martinez Tijerina was kidnapped, tortured and murdered in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, sometime between Friday night and 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10. His body was found on a dirt road 15 kilometers from the town square.
The 45-year journalist was news director at local radio station Counterpoint XERN 950 AM, host of the radio station 800 Information XEDD and correspondent for TV Azteca, and Multimedia Group W Radio.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz Guillermo Trejo was a cameraman for several local media, a video producer for the State Human Rights Commission's website and previously a cameraman with the digital newspaper Omnia in Chihuahua.
Alcaraz, 24, was was gunned down, in his car, after visiting former colleagues at Omnia. More than 40 spent AK-47 casings were recovered from the scene.
Impunity in the killing of more than 70 journalists in the last decade offers encouragement to those who will to silence the voice of society represented by those who exercise freedom of expression. Citizens have the right to be informed.
These killings cannot and should not be seen as mere casualities of the Mexican drug war. By killing our journalists they have attacked our right to freedom of expression: an act which not only exposes each citizen to grave civil dangers, but threatens the very delicate democracy in which our country stands.
