ANITA GOEL
Founder and CEO, Nanobiosym
Dr Anita Goel, was named among the world's Top 35 young high-tech innovators by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) prestigious Technology Review magazine.
RAJIT MANOHAR
Associate Professor, Cornell University
Rajit has been noticed for his enhancement of the chip. An onboard clock that harmonizes the different functions of a computer chip. He speeds up chips and lowers power consumption by removing the clock. His signature chips are 10 times more energy efficient than earlier clockless chips.
NARASIMHA CHARI
Founder and Chief Architect, Tropos Network
The Technology Review magazine has named him among the Top 35 young innovators for setting the wireless mesh networking standard. He created elegant algorithms that tailored mesh networking, once an exclusive province of the military, for routine civilian communication.
ADAM RASHEED
Aeronautical Engineer, GE Global Research
He has been associated with GE Global Research in New York where he began working on energy and propulsion technologies, specifically focussing on Pulsed Detonation Engines -- a new kind of engine that has the potential of dramatically reducing the amount of fuel used by airplanes.
SHILADITYA SENGUPTA
Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Startedworking in the field of angiogenesis. After joining MIT as a postdoctoral associate, he started working on a problem that had plagued this field -- how to deliver chemotherapy after the blood vessels to the tumor have been cut off. As the Technology Review magazine says, his biggest discovery, that of the 'nanocell', is a nanoscale drug delivery device to treat cancer.
VIKRAM SHEEL KUMAR
President and Chief Executive officer, Dimagi Inc
Vikram is the first Indian to receive the 'Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA)" Award.Vikram, who migrated to the US in 1996, was named among the 'World's 100 Top Innovators Under 35' in biotechnology and medicine in 2004 by the Technology Review magazine.
SHASHI SETH
Lead Product Manager, Google Search
In 1999, he took a job with a contractor for NASA and worked on various projects at NASA for the next six years, building futuristic avionics and flight simulation software.
I took the plunge providing consulting in e-commerce and internet technology," says Shashi. First, he helped Gap launch their online stores. Then, from 2002 to April 2005, he created the hugely successful eBay Platform.
NEAL KATYAL
Georgetown Law Professor
Named among Top 40 lawyers under 40 by the National Law Journal.
In May 2005, Neal was named one of the leading "40 lawyers under 40" by the National Law Journal.
ANSHUMAN RAZDAN
Director, PRISM, ASU
Anshuman, 40, director of the Arizona State University's Partnership for Research in Spatial Modelling (PRISM) is collaborating with anthropologist Jeffrey Schwartz to virtually recreate three lifelike, life-size figures of George Washington.
The reconstruction is part of an $85 million facelift of Washington's Virginia estate. The statues will capture Washington as a surveyor at age 19, on horseback as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army at 45, and being sworn in as president at 57.
KARAN K BHATIA
Assistant Secy of Transportation for Aviation & Intl Affairs, US
Nominated to be Deputy US Trade Representative
De Representative currently serving as Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs at the Department of Transportation, Karan has previously served as Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security in the Bush administration.
Prior to that, he was Chief Counsel for the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Export Administration.
In September 2005, President George W Bush announced his intention to nominate Karan K Bhatia of Maryland to be Deputy US Trade Representative with the rank of ambassador.
Before that, in September 2003, Karan was nominated by President Bush as Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Aviation and International Affairs and was confirmed by the Senate shortly thereafter.
BOBBY JINDAL
US Congressman, Louisiana's 1st Congressional District
When Katrina came to town (His constituency also includes New Orleans -- the worst-hit by Katrina), it knocked Bobby Jindal out of his home. But that didn't deter the man who represents the Louisiana district. He was out to care for the people who had voted for him.
In November 2004, Bobby became the first Indian American to win a Congressional seat in 46 years -- the only other member of the community to win an election to Congress was Dilip Singh Saund in 1956.

Chairman and CEO, Mittal Steel Company
Named on the Forbes' Billionaire List
The London-based steel baron has had another great year. As the Forbes puts it, "Mittal has been the biggest dollar gainer on this year's listing of the world's billionaires, adding $18.8 billion to his net worth."
With a whopping worth of $25 billion, Mittal has been named the third richest man on the planet, behind Microsoft's Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffet.
Mittal was awarded Fortune magazine's European Businessman of the Year 2004.
