"So,how did your son perform?" asked Mrs. Gupta with curiosity. "He did well, "replied Mrs. Singh hesitatingly in a low voice. But Mrs.Gupta would not stop at that. "But, what is his aggregate percentage, subject wise marks?," enquired Mrs.Gupta earnestly. As if she is the admission in-charge of some college. "There is someone at the door. I will call you later." Mrs. Singh disconnected the phone. "Mom,who was on the line?," asked her son standing near her.
Now, there are two ways in which mothers like Mrs. Singh can react. As it is evident, her son has not performed well in the CBSE results. Firstly, she might scold her son. "You have let us down. How will I face the people in the family, in our society? Where will you get admission with such low marks?" Most of the parents react like this only.
Secondly, she might tell her son to calm down. "We will see what can be done. We have to think of other options." She will stand by her son and say, "Do not worry. This is not the end of life. Every thing will be fine."
Children, who are much younger in age compared to us, do not know how to deal with it. They are already stressed and depressed because they could somehow not perform as per their parents and teacher's expectations. It becomes absolutely necessary to give them moral and emotional support at this point of time.
Success does not mean, always topping the merit list. You must accept what has happened. Analyse your weaknesses. Sometimes; no, as a matter of fact most of the times, things do not turn out as we plan them. How we turn the things around again in our favor is what is important. As they say, "you can never learn anything by doing it right."
