the pigeon takes flight.
So with my new SLR camera, a Canon 550d I have been beaming with will and ambition like an artist standing before a blank canvas! Not so sure but inspired and ready to begin... With my reservations about not remembering how to operate it–I asked for help from a pro photographer who explained to me, the intricacies of the manual mode. And so I was reintroduced to exposure, shutter speed, aperture and much else. It’s funny how we can control what we see through the lens. If the same applied in life and we could manipulate it, I bet we would see beauty even in darkness!

Well Delhi can be a good place for photography, but its essential for us all to always keep the camera by our side in order to not miss anything. For example while driving back from my friend’s house one day, I stumbled upon hundreds of pigeons flocked together around CR park, the likes of which are found mostly at places like Gateway of India, Chowpatti etc!!!!
I wasn’t certain if I should and there were the regular onlookers staring and smirking, which is indeed a common sight on offer for women here but I had to get off the car and started clicking. When hundreds of those birds began to fly against the force of the wind, I have to say...I was mesmerized! Their frail bodies mid air in unison fighting to sustain the flight and it seemed as if a symmetrical web of some kind had being created before me.The process seemed never ending and each time they rose I felt a force of the earth rise and fall while it was beckoning everything around it! The clouds of november seemed to be hovering in the dull light of the cold november morning. However the pigeons emerged victorious and in harmony went back to their business of picking food.
Its fascinating trying to capture movement with control on the effect, while the camera gives us power to communicate. I only wish now that I had recorded it on video. Though I'd say it was worthwhile as I got some good shots while experimenting. Lets see what's next, soon.
