The likes and dislikes of facebooking
I was a fan of facebook till about a few weeks ago. Yes, it means I gave a thums up for everything facebook advertised or did online. Ya, I thought it was the best way to connect with friends (unless you really want to!). People don’t even connect with their families leave alone connect with friends! And its for a reason only a wise few will understand.

Well some signs along the way began to show that people around me had some issues with facebook. Like someone posting a status message saying they didn’t like it balantaly and another friend sending me a message on it saying that this would be his last as he is deleting his facebook account and sending me his email id instead.
Well I am not one to follow the crowd but it got me thinking especially when our pastor last Sunday referring to FB said he didn’t particlurarly like or dislike it but he didn’t think he could handle the stress of beign rejected or accepted or rejecting other people. To a certain exent what he said is true I thought liking or disliking someone’s views is like liking or disliking the person. The stress part dosent bother me that much as I sometimes don’t care wether people like my views or not as long as I am swept away by them.lol.
Then I realized are a number of kids on my facebook list for whom the likes and dislikes must matter a lot. At times school authorities dont want to have a winner in some activities just to keep children from the negative effects of competition. I understand that.
At times I have myself added a like for the statuses of friends whom no one would just so they wouldn’t feel bad. To me not to like someone’s status is like to leave them out in the cold. Its rude so I add a like to everyone...makes for a happier world I guess.
Then there is the issue of the inappropriateness of timing like when your BMW tells you that you have to wait it out for 2 more months to have a drivers licence as the rules have changed and you go on FB and there is your schoolmate flashing his brand new chevy. Oh boy I could use a break!
